Transportation from Goa Airport - Dabolim Airport: Taxi, Bus, Train

Goa International Airport, also known as Dabolim Airport is the unique airport that serves the Touristic region of Goa, India. The airport is located 29 km / 18 miles SW of Panaji, 4 km / 2½ Miles SE of Vasco de Gama. The airport is not very big and it does not have the same transport facilities that the major airports in India. Neverthelest see below the different transport options that you have in Goa Airport:

Goa Airport to Calangute: The best option is the Taxi. Expect 1000-1200 INR Approx. Distance: 38 km.

Goa Airport to Panjim: Distance: 25 km. There are buses from Vasco da Gama.

Shuttle Bus

If you are travelling on a package holiday or you are sleeping on a good quality hotel of the region, ask your tour operator or your hotel for free shuttle service from the Goa Airport to your destination. If this is not you case, check out the other options that you have.


There is a pre-paid taxi booth outside the terminal. Try to use a pre-paid taxi from the booth to reduce the chances of you being ripped off. The typical fare to Panaji city center is INR400-500/40mins. And to Candolim INR 500/60mins.


There are local buses in the airport that goes to Chicalim and Vasco-da-Gama, but they are not very regular and often crowded. Probably the best option is to take a taxi to nearby Vasco de Gama and then bus to Panaji. From Panaji there are regular bus services operating to most towns and cities in the neighbour states: Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore,.. These services are operated by Kadamba Transport Corporation (State Owned) and other transport corporations. Other facts on long trips:
- The buses stops for dinner and breakfast.
- Ticket may vary from RS 250 to 650.
- A journey to Mumbai can take up to 12-16 hours.
- Try to book your tickets well in advance


The closest Rail Station is 1km from the Airport, the Dabolim Rail Station. The region of Goa has two major railway stations, located in Margao and Vasco-da-Gama.

There is a High-speed Konkan Railway that connects to Margao in South Goa, Tivim in North Goa, Carambolim, and Ponda. It also links to Mumbai daily and it takes around 8-9 hours.
